The Candelieri’s Procession in Iglesias, capital of the homonymous province, brought to light just in the 1995 thanks to the reconstruction of the Candelieri and customs, takes place the 15th of August, starting from Place della Cattedrale, finishing in the Church of "Colleggio", with a torchlight procession of big and small candles offered to the Virgin. Particular is the nocturnal waking, that takes place the 14th of August in the Church della Purissima and culminates with the offering of the symbols to the Sleeping Virgin simulacre, where are donated, according to the byzantine tradition, incense (symbol of the Divinity), basil (icon of the regalness) and rose-petals (representation of the purity).
